NLP’s well-formed outcome is goal setting in well structured NLP way. In this, we will discuss how to create NLP well-formed outcomes.
NLP well-formed outcomes answer the most important question, “What do you really want?”
The importance of well-formed outcomes or setting clear goals is no more a secret. We all know that to achieve success in life, we must set goals and take action to achieve them.
In this post, I will describe the NLP well-formed outcomes process that can help you to define your clear goals.
NLP well-formed outcomes process
Here is the process for NLP well-formed outcomes,
Step 1 – Create specific and positive outcomes.
The outcomes desired by you must be stated in the positive statements and not in the negative.
The unconscious does not process a negative statement.
For Example. “Do not think about the purple elephant?”. Here you will visualize a purple elephant even if it says do not think about it.
Take time to describe exactly what you want? For example, I want 10,000-page visitors on this blog and cover most of the NLP topics.
Step 2- Focus on your ability.
When setting up NLP well-formed outcomes, you should focus on your ability, not depending on others.
The goals should be such that requires you to take action and responsibility for action.
For Example. If other departments support me, I will be able to complete my sales targets.
This statement puts the onus of action on other people, which is not under your control.
Yes, there are some tasks where you need support, but you can not keep them as your goal.
In a nutshell, it is your well-formed outcomes, so you should take responsibility for it.
Step 3- Context or Specific
The well-formed outcomes should be with context, and context brings meaning to the statement.
To set NLP well-formed outcomes, you should be more specific with what, when, who, whom and how?
By the end of 2022, I will make $50,000 by selling my courses to NLP practitioners and master practitioners over my website.
NLP well-formed outcomes with context make it more ecological and drive you to take action.
Step 4- Add NLP Representational systems / sensory modalities
You can add what you will see, hear and feel when you achieve your outcome.
Adding NLP representational systems like visual, auditory, and kinesthetic to your well-formed outcomes helps take it to the subconscious mind.
When I see my bank balance of USD 50,012 in December 2022, I will feel delighted and listen to my wife cheering me.
The more you add the sensory modalities, the more motivating will be the goals of NLP well-formed outcomes.
Step 5 – Set Actionable objectives
Once your goal is set, the next task is to break down this goal into small actionable objectives.
This process is known as chunking down in NLP
Which one you feel will be achievable?
“I will complete this whole book in one sitting.”
“I will read at least 10 pages a day.”
The point here is to chunk down the goal into small actionable objectives that are small and achievable.
While we chunk down the NLP well-formed outcomes to small actionable objectives, it boosts our motivation to do the tasks.
Step 6 – Support and resources.
Ask yourself what all resources you will require to achieve this goal. Who can all help you to achieve this goal?
You can not do everything on your own, and you will need support from others and resources.
It would help if you took the onus on yourself to get things done.
Step 7 – Perform an Ecology check.
Do the ecology check on your NLP well-formed outcomes. Ask yourself the following question.
- Are there any other goals or objectives hurdle to this outcome?
- What might be interfering with your outcome?
- Consider any other obstacles that may cause the problem.
Additional steps to process that are optional
Step 8 – Set up Milestones
Like you have created small actionable objectives in the process, you should also create the milestones.
Milestones will help you to understand whether you are going in the right direction or you may need to change the course of action.
The milestones should also be specific and measurable.
Step 9 – Write down your goals.
Everyone knows that out of sight is out of mind.
Please write down your goals, such a way that it is visible to you every day.
This will motivate you and keep you working towards goal achievement.
When we write down the goals, it connects with the kinesthetic representational system, and we tend to remember what we write down in most cases.
Step 10 Routine Test
Check your progress against the milestones and actionable objectives on fixed frequencies.
You can check them weekly, monthly, or quarterly based on your NLP well-formed outcomes.
This will help you to refine the process and goals themselves.
Where to use NLP well-formed outcomes?
NLP well-formed outcomes can be used in regular goal setting, taking the better decision,s and also can be combined with other NLP techniques.
You can use this pattern in your NLP coaching practice or therapy practice before starting any intervention with the clients.
