NLP techniques for students
Now let’s see these techniques in detail.
NLP Visualization
NLP Visualization is the most effective technique even for younger kids, you can ask students to imagine themselves performing well in the examination, or giving the best presentation or viva.
However, just imagining won’t help them, you need to help them imagine better and at a believable level.
I personally recommend using a representational system along with the visualization, this makes it more effective.
For Example, “ Imagine you have reached your exam hall, it smells freshly cleaned room, you can see you desk where you are writing answers to the question, you are calm and your breathing in normal, you can hear murmur of students, instruction of teacher in exam, with each questions you read you feel more and more confident about your answers. You can feel the pen, surface of paper as you write all the answers, you complete in time and come back home safely”.
This is just an example for your reference, you can add more representational systems like visual, auditory, kinesthetic and olfactory to this script.
Make sure students do this visualization exercise every morning or before going to bed. Having a detailed script for visualization and regular practice can give amazing results.
NLP Swish pattern
NLP Swish pattern is advanced NLP techniques for students, you will need help from an NLP practitioner to perform this technique.
The NLP Swish pattern helps in generating new behavior, and it works very fast.
If any student of yours has a certain pattern or habit that affects their study you can use NLP Swish pattern to change the behavior with desired behavior.
I have used this nlp technique a number of times with students getting anxious before exams, bad eating habits and self sabotaging.
You can read my detailed blog on NLP swish patterns to perform it better.
NLP Modeling techniques
Every student has role models, ideally they should have role models who have achieved what they want to achieve.
NLP Modeling techniques can help students to understand the behavior pattern of their role models, how they will perform the tasks, how they will prepare for exams and what not.
This NLP technique can be useful while students are preparing for exams or any other big day.
Students are advised to form a support group where all like minded people gather and share ideas to each other.
This works more on principle of the law of attraction, students can choose a mentor to follow and become successful.
I have benefited from NLP modeling exercises for a student with low self-esteem, after careful consideration we chose a role model to follow, coupling with NLP anchoring and other exercises we got amazing results.
NLP Reframing
NLP reframing works well with negative thinking patterns and beliefs, apart from swish this technique is more useful to change the thinking pattern of the students.
These NLP techniques for students will require practice however you can find a detailed blog on NLP Reframing here.
We have to be careful while working with reframing. First we need to understand the problem statement and then look for an alternate reframe.
NLP metamodel
NLP metamodel is useful for the students who have developed negative behavior towards exams, tests or preparation.
We understand things with an inbuilt filter of deletion, distortion and generalization. Any imbalance in this can make havoc in preparation or study by the student.
If a student over-generalizes or has distortion while learning it can be difficult for them to understand what they are reading or worse they may have different meanings all together.
You can read my detailed blog here on NLP metamodel, it requires practice but gives results every time compared to any other NLP techniques for students.
NLP Spelling strategy
If your students have difficulties to remember spelling or form spelling, this technique is for them.
I want to point out that if someone has difficulties with spelling, it is not that they have some learning disability. It’s just that they are using a different mental program that is not working.
NLP spelling strategy is combination NLP strategy and visualization, for more details you can refer my blog here.
So here are the NLP techniques for students, which technique you are going to use? If you have any questions you can reach out to me.
